With Christmas now behind us, law students across the country must endure the waiting game… waiting to find out our fall semester grades. Now in my 2nd year, this wait is no less agonizing because these grades will affect my 2nd summer associate opportunities. While VLS classes are not unique in making the final exam seemingly one’s final grade, I cannot help but think that this grading method is maddening. After all, we all spend an entire semester working diligently in each course only to have a 3-4 hour exam determine our success in the course. I remain cautiously hopeful that I did well in each course, but I really won’t know until grades are posted. For 2L and 3L students, all grades may not be released until we are into the spring semester.
Thankfully, in Vermont, we have snow to help us pass the time as we wait.
